Your skin looks grey by Wednesday. Foundation catches on dry patches. You can't remember the last time someone looked after your face.

Your routine does a lot. It can't clear what's sitting deep in your pores, or lift the layer of dead skin that makes you look tired.

A facial can. And for an hour, nobody needs anything from you.

Is this you?

Nod at a few of these and a facial or peel is worth booking.

Dull, tired skin

No glow, even after a good night's sleep.

Blackheads and congestion

Clogged pores on the nose, chin and forehead.

Uneven texture

Rough patches, bumps, make-up that won't sit smoothly.

Fine lines

Lines that show more when your skin is dry.

Dry, tight skin

Skin that stings, flakes or feels tight after washing.

Uneven tone

Patches, marks and a complexion that looks blotchy.

Breakouts that keep coming back, or redness and flushing that won't settle? Those have their own pages: acne treatment and rosacea treatment.

How a facial works

Every facial follows the same order. What changes is the depth, the products and the time, matched to your skin on the day.

1

Cleanse

Make-up, oil and the day's build-up removed, so your skin can be seen as it is.

2

Exfoliate

Dead cells lifted from the surface, with an acid or enzyme matched to your skin, so fresh skin shows through.

3

Treat

The step chosen for your skin: clearing congestion, brightening, or calming.

4

Nourish and protect

Hydration and barrier care, then SPF, so your skin leaves calmer than it arrived.

Chemical peels, explained

A peel uses an acid to loosen the bonds that hold dead cells to the surface of your skin. They shed faster, and the fresher skin underneath shows through.

Superficial peels

Every peel we use is a superficial peel: it works on the top layer, with little or no downtime.

The retinol peel

Retinol is a form of vitamin A. A retinol peel works differently from an acid: it speeds up how quickly your skin renews its surface, which helps texture, fine lines and uneven tone. It's a superficial peel.

What you feel

Warmth or tingling while it works, and some tightness afterwards. You'll get exact instructions for the hours that follow.

Peeling days

With the retinol peel, most people have light flaking for a few days, usually starting on day 2. Let it shed on its own. Picking it can mark your skin.

SPF afterwards

New skin burns easily. SPF 30 or higher every day. Keep out of strong sun for at least 2 weeks.

When a peel waits

Not while pregnant or breastfeeding for the retinol peel, and any other peel is chosen with you. Not while taking retinoid acne tablets, or after a recent course: the timing is decided with you. Not with an active cold sore, or on very sensitive, broken or sunburnt skin. We choose something gentler instead.

Nourishing treatments

Skin that stings, feels tight or reacts to everything often has a damaged barrier: the outer layer that keeps water in and irritants out. Strong actives and too much exfoliation are common causes.

Barrier repair

Rich, calming care that puts back the fats your skin's outer layer is made of, such as ceramides. Actives pause until your skin settles.

Hydration

Ingredients like hyaluronic acid draw water into the skin, then a richer layer seals it in. Your skin can look plumper and feel comfortable again.

Built into every facial

Every facial ends with a nourishing step. If your barrier is damaged, we repair it first, and peels wait.

At home

A routine you'll actually use, matched to your skin. You decide what, if anything, to take home.

Why regular facials

Your skin renews its surface roughly every 4 weeks, and more slowly as you get older. Dead cells build up between facials, and congestion settles back in.

A facial every month works with that rhythm, which is why many clients book monthly. We suggest what suits your skin, and you decide.

Questions people ask me

Choosing a facial
Which facial should I book first?

If you're new to the clinic, the New Client Skin Check & First Treatment. Your skin gets a full check once, and every facial after that is chosen from what we found.

How often should I have a facial?

Your skin renews its surface roughly every 4 weeks, and more slowly as you get older, so many clients book monthly. We suggest a rhythm that suits your skin.

Do facials hurt?

Not usually. Exfoliation and peels can tingle or feel warm for a few minutes, and clearing pores can feel a little uncomfortable. We stop or adjust whenever you need.

Can men book a facial?

Yes. Every facial and peel here is open to men too.

I have acne or rosacea. Can I still have a facial?

Often, yes, with the products and depth chosen around it. If spots or flushing are the main problem, start with acne treatment or rosacea treatment.

Chemical peels
What does a chemical peel actually do?

It loosens the bonds that hold dead cells to the surface of your skin, so they shed faster. The fresher skin underneath looks smoother and more even.

Will I visibly peel?

With the retinol peel, most people have light flaking for a few days, usually starting on day 2.

What do I do after a peel?

Let the skin shed on its own, keep it moisturised, and wear SPF 30 or higher every day. Keep out of strong sun for at least 2 weeks.

Who shouldn't have a peel?

Not while pregnant or breastfeeding for the retinol peel, and any other peel is chosen with you. Not while taking retinoid acne tablets, or after a recent course: the timing is decided with you. Not with an active cold sore, or on very sensitive, broken or sunburnt skin. We choose something gentler instead.

Should I stop my retinol before a peel?

Usually, yes: for a few days before, and for 5 days after. Tell us everything you use, and we'll tell you exactly when to stop and restart.

Skin barrier and home care
What is a damaged skin barrier?

The outer layer of your skin keeps water in and irritants out. When it's damaged, skin stings, feels tight and reacts to products it used to tolerate.

What do nourishing treatments do?

They put back what the barrier is made of and draw water into the skin, so it can calm down and feel comfortable again. Every facial ends with this step.

Do I have to buy products?

No. If something would help at home, we suggest it, and you decide.

Urgent symptoms
What needs checking urgently after a facial or peel?

Blistering, spreading redness, heat, pus or a fever: contact the clinic the same day, and if you feel very unwell, call 111. Swelling of the face, lips or tongue, or trouble breathing: call 999.

What if a mole or spot worries me?

A mole that is changing in size, shape or colour, or bleeding, or a spot that won't heal, needs an urgent referral through your GP, within 2 weeks: ask for it by name. If you're under the clinic's care, the clinic writes to your GP the same day.
