Weight Loss & Gut Health
How we can help
Weight loss and gut health, in one conversation
Weight that won't come off however carefully you eat, bloating by the afternoon, food that seems to disagree with you, tired all the time. These are often connected, so I look at them together.
Weight and metabolism
- Weight loss with a clinician who looks at hormones, blood sugar, sleep and stress, as well as what you eat
- Insulin resistance and blood sugar
- Keeping your muscle and your skin while you lose weight
- Treatment options where they suit you, talked through properly in your consultation
Gut and digestion
- Bloating, wind and a bowel that has changed its habits
- Food triggers: working out what your gut reacts to, from a proper history and a structured food trial
- Tiredness, iron, B12 and vitamin D

Some things need checking quickly. Blood in your poo, a change in bowel habit lasting more than 3 weeks, weight loss you can't explain, or difficulty swallowing: ask your GP for a FIT test and an urgent suspected cancer referral by name. Bloating most days for 3 weeks or more, especially if you are over 50, needs a CA125 blood test and possibly a scan: ask for them by name. Black stools with dizziness, or vomiting you can't keep fluids down: call 111 today, or 999 if you feel faint. If your lips, tongue or throat swell, or you find it hard to breathe, call 999.
