What it measures

More than 70 markers: a full blood count; thyroid function and thyroid antibodies (TSH, free T4, free T3, TPO and thyroglobulin antibodies); oestradiol, FSH, LH, SHBG, total and free testosterone, the free androgen index, prolactin, cortisol and DHEA-S; HbA1c (your average blood sugar); a cholesterol profile plus ApoA1, ApoB and lipoprotein(a); homocysteine; liver and kidney function; uric acid; magnesium, potassium, calcium, sodium and chloride; total and active B12, folate, ferritin, iron, transferrin, zinc and vitamin D; CRP and creatine kinase.

How to give your sample

Before you test

This one needs a blood draw at a clinic, because some markers have to be spun in a centrifuge soon after they're taken. Book a morning appointment and fast from 10pm the night before (water is fine). If you still have periods, I'll tell you which day of your cycle to book. On hormonal contraception or HRT? Tell me before you test, because it changes how some results read.

• Taking biotin (in many hair, skin and nail supplements)? Stop it 3 days before, and longer if it's a high dose, because it can upset thyroid and hormone results.
• If you take thyroid medicine, take your sample before that day's dose.
• If you take an iron supplement, stop it 5 to 7 days before.
• Been ill or had a vaccine in the last 2 weeks? Wait until the 2 weeks have passed, because it can push some results up.
• Avoid hard exercise for 48 hours before, because it raises some muscle and liver markers.

Your results and your written report

Your results come back to me, usually 1 to 3 working days after the lab receives your sample. You get the lab report, which is the numbers and their ranges, and a written report from me. In it I read your results together and explain what they mean for you, including any that sit inside the range but still matter. It's a written report, not a consultation. The price includes the lab fee and your report.
