Woman on an online video consultation at home, perimenopause and menopause care across the UK

You're awake at 3am again, too hot, then too cold.

You walked into the kitchen and forgot why. You've taken your cardigan off and put it back on four times in one meeting. And somebody has already told you it's just your age.

It might well be your age. You still don't have to put up with it.

I'm going through perimenopause myself, so I know how strange it is when your own body stops making sense.

Is this you?

Nod at even one of these and this consultation is for you.

Hot flushes and night sweats

Too hot, then too cold, day and night.

Sleep has gone

Or you wake at the same time every night.

Brain fog

You lose words halfway through a sentence.

Mood that isn't you

Anxious, flat or angry in a way you don't recognise.

Periods have changed

Heavier, closer together, or unpredictable.

Aches and tiredness

Your joints ache and you're tired before the day has started.

Libido and intimate symptoms

Low libido, vaginal dryness, pain during sex, or needing the loo more often.

HRT that doesn't feel right

You're already on HRT (hormone replacement therapy) and something is still off.

Told it's nothing

Too young for this, or your blood results were normal.

Normal blood results don't mean your symptoms aren't real. We interpret investigations alongside your symptoms, medical history and clinical circumstances to decide what, if anything, needs further assessment.

How it works

Talk, Start, Test, Review. Where it's right for you, treatment can start before any blood test.

1

Talk

The Menopause Consultation, 45 minutes online. Your symptoms, your history, your family history and what you want to change.

2

Start

Where treatment is right for you, it can start after this first appointment.

3

Test

Bloods when they help, to rule out other causes and fine-tune your plan.

4

Review

A 30-minute Menopause Review to check how you're getting on and adjust the plan.

If you're over 45 and your symptoms point to perimenopause or menopause, you usually don't need a blood test to be diagnosed or to start treatment. If something else could be behind your symptoms, like your thyroid or low iron, the blood test is how we find it.

What happens in the 45 minutes

Your story

What's changed and when, your periods, your sleep, your mood, and what you've already tried. Start wherever you like. Lists on your phone are welcome.

Your health history

Your medical history, the medicines and supplements you take, and your family history. This is how we make sure the options we talk about are safe for you.

Your options

HRT, non-hormonal options, local treatment for vaginal dryness and bladder symptoms, and the everyday changes: sleep, food, strength training, and supplements where they help.

Your plan

We decide together what to start. You'll know what happens next, whether a blood test would help, and when we review. If your GP needs to know about your treatment, I write to them, so your records match.

Questions women ask me

Do I need a blood test before my consultation?

Usually not. If you're over 45 and your symptoms point to perimenopause or menopause, you usually don't need a blood test to be diagnosed or to start treatment. If something else could be behind your symptoms, like your thyroid or low iron, the blood test is how we find it.

Can I start HRT after the first appointment?

If it's right for you, yes. We go through your history and your options in the consultation, decide together, and then review how it's going. If you need medicine, the cost is explained before anything goes ahead.

I'm in my early 40s. Is it too early for perimenopause?

Not at all. Perimenopause often starts in the 40s, and symptoms can begin while your periods are still regular. If you're under 45, a blood test is sometimes useful, and under 40 it's usually needed. We'll talk about whether you need one.

I'm already on HRT and it isn't working. Can you help?

Yes. Book the Menopause Consultation and we'll go through what you take, how you take it, and what's still bothering you, then adjust the plan.

My blood results came back normal. Why do I still feel like this?

Normal blood results don't mean your symptoms aren't real. We interpret investigations alongside your symptoms, medical history and clinical circumstances to decide what, if anything, needs further assessment.

Is it video or phone?

Either. You choose video or voice call, from anywhere in the UK.

What if I need more than one appointment?

The Menopause Review is 30 minutes for £65, for checking how treatment is going and adjusting it. If you'd like bloods and a written plan, your Menopause Consultation fee counts in full towards the Women's Health Audit within 30 days.

Will my GP know?

If your GP needs to know about your treatment, I write to them, so your records match.

Ready when you are

Bring the list on your phone. Bring the 3am questions. We'll go through all of it.
